Study points out bottlenecks limiting Brazilian startups in building GenAI

A new study by ACE Ventures, in partnership with AWS Startups, reveals a still limited landscape of generative artificial intelligence production in Brazil. Despite the technical potential and the relevance of local data, few startups assume the role of foundational technology builders, with their own models, exclusive architectures, and solutions adapted to the national reality.

The report “Building AI in Brazil: the GenAI producers map” interviewed 12 founders, investors, and researchers to identify the main barriers. Three factors stand out: the scarcity of specialized talent, limited access to computational infrastructure, and traditional venture capital evaluation criteria, which hinder the viability of long-cycle businesses.
